During the FIFA World Cub 2014, the founders of Beyond Sports wondered how they could combine their passions for sport and data and make the outcome accessible for a larger audience, from B2B to B2C. There was not much being done with data in the professional sports industry, which gave them the motivation to develop new technologies. Beyond Sports is now an AI-based visualization company that provides broadcasters, teams, clubs, and brands with never before seen perspectives and views of real sports footage using player positional as well as limb tracking data.
Our years of experience in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Human Movement Science, and Unity Development, have helped us gain the trust of elite, international teams such as FC Arsenal, AFC Ajax, and AZ Alkmaar. Our products are also used by major broadcasters and sports organizations like ESPN, Eredivisie, KNVB, NFL, NHL, and more.

SANDER SCHOUTEN / CO-FOUNDER & CEO
Sander believes that changes in any business are caused by two things: An urge to differentiate and an individual that is willing to get there.
Despite a successful career start in the Oil and Gas industry, he came to the conclusion that for him natural hydrocarbons as an energy source wasn’t the long-term solution that the world needed. Using his knowledge combined with business sense he found the answer in a renewable energy startup that is still active today.
The energetic and flexible atmosphere of the startup made him find the drive to continue to disrupt industries.
Recognising the rising opportunities within sports on the intersection of tech and data, he met with Louis van Gaal (Head Coach of the Dutch FA) and he used this opportunity to introduce him to the latest tech on the market. It was that encounter that led to the idea for a solution that we now know as Beyond sports.
NICOLAAS WESTERHOF / CO-FOUNDER & CTO
Nicolaas is an expert in both Virtual Reality football analysis and training concepts. Throughout his entire life, Nicolaas has been linked to sports. From initiating and leading the construction of Holland’s first concrete skate park at the age of 15, is a personal trainer at a gym, and joining the first team staff of AFC Ajax as a video and data analyst.
During his study in Human Movement Sciences, he mainly focused on talent development, player positional tracking systems, and space perception in Virtual Reality.
With this knowledge, Nicolaas left AFC Ajax to pursue the dream of startup Beyond Sports and he has been a key part of the journey ever since. Nicolaas is responsible for the Beyond Sports concept and product development and implementation of the full Beyond Sports product suite - ranging from club performance to AI and multi-sports consumer content platform development.
